First look: Irish pub McCafferty’s, JVC

The brand-new spot opens this weekend

Ready for a pint of the black stuff or a proper Irish breakfast? Brand-new Irish Pub, McCafferty’s is opening in Dubai’s Jumeriah Village Circle this weekend, and Time Out Dubai has been along for a quick sneak peek behind the scenes.

And we can’t wait for it to open.

McCafferty’s – which is housed in JVC’s new Circle Mall – will be welcoming pubgoers from 2pm on Saturday (September 11). So, if you’re after a bite to eat at what could well become your new local, start making plans.

The new pub will be open every day from 11am until 2am, serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner – as well as promising an “extensive” beverage menu.

McCafferty’s hails from Donegal in Ireland, where it launched in 2016. It proved so popular that it now has branches in Ireland, the UK and Spain – while this is a first Middle Eastern venture for the pub.

And being an Irish pub, you can expect a warm welcome – as well as loads of tasty dishes from the Emerald Isle. Menu highlights include seafood chowder, fish and chips, chicken kiev, pies, beef wellington and more.

But not only that – the set-up is pretty cool, too. Spread out over 12,000 sq ft, McCafferty’s also has a massive roof terrace with panoramic views across Dubai.

And if you can drag your eyes away from that view – there’s a huge LED screen, too.

All the major sporting events will be shown on the screen – as well as on TVs throughout the bar, so whether you’re into football, cricket or F1, your sporting needs will be covered.

Love live music? Get ready for live entertainment seven nights a week, from artists such as modern Irish trad trio The Gentlemen Barstewards, fiddle player Sean Gavin and a new five-piece resident band Ragús, who’ll be performing a mix of traditional Irish tunes and modern pop classics.

There’s a load of deals to check out too – including a daily happy hour where you’ll get bubbly, grape, draft hops and short measures from Dhs30, every day from 3pm until 8pm.

Fancy a traditional weekend roast? Book in every weekend from noon until 10pm (or until it sells out) and you can dig into pepper-crusted rib of beef, lemon and thyme turkey or a crunchy vegan nut roast for Dhs120, including a house drink.
